Who Are We?
Shakespeare By The Sea was founded by Kate McStraw who has a passion for the arts and a desire to make “high-theatre” accessible to everyone. In our debut show, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, we partnered with local arts outreach charity, Creative Kids, to transform Tuckton Gardens into a magical fairy wonderland by presenting one of Shakespeare’s most beloved plays.
We return this summer with our second production, being the classic comedy Much Ado About Nothing. We have a fantastic cast and crew made up of local community members, seasoned actors and university students. We are looking forward to presenting our latest production, and are also excited about touring to a variety of venues, and the challenges that will bring!

The staging of a production is not without its costs. Elements such as insurance, and location fees drastically raise the budget of a show like ours, even with the wonderful support we have received in terms of costumes, props, and staging elements.
